Russia’s Grizzly Coast—The Making of an Exhibit

When the Minnesota Zoo opens Russia’s Grizzly Coast in 2008, it will unveil the first exhibit of its kind featuring the region, landscapes, and animal combinations of the Russian Far East. The making of a Zoo exhibit is a wonderful blend of art, science, and engineering. Although there are some similarities between Russia’s Pacific coast and Minnesota, there are unique geological differences, too. From the rugged rock formations of the Pacific coast to an authentic log cabin in the woods, designers and contractors work meticulously to create a one-of-a-kind Russian wilderness.
