Most people think of zookeepers, veterinarians and animals
trainers when they think about working at a zoo, but equally
important are the jobs that involve working with people.
The Minnesota Zoo has a great team of Guest Services employees
and hundreds of volunteers who greet and interact with
each and every guest-making your visit pleasant and memorable.
Think about your last visit to the Zoo:
- Someone greeted you at the
door
- You were given a daily schedule
with show times
- Someone helped you getting
on and off the Monorail
- Your kids were able to talk
to "Diver Dan"
- Someone answered questions
and interpreted interesting animal artifacts
- When you lost something it
was found
- Your kids had a great birthday
party
- Someone said "good bye" as
you left the Zoo
Our Guest Service employees and
volunteers always wear a smile and have to be ready for anything. When
computers break-down or exhibits/shows are closed or
canceled, they have to be ready to keep you informed
and provide alternatives for how to spend your day.
In short, they need to know EVERYTHING about the Minnesota
Zoo!

“…greeting guests as they arrive and seeing them again as they leave.
It is very rewarding when they remember me and want to tell me about their day.”
Sharon Foster, Guest Services Manager
“Helping guests plan their day and letting them
know fun areas to visit, like the baby tigers, seeing
the bird or dolphin show.”
Vicky Sewich, Guest Services Coordinator

“The hardest part about my job is when a guest is upset over something
we can't control... didn't get to see a particular show because they got there
too late, or maybe one of their favorite animals wasn’t active that day.
We want to see our guests happy and when they aren't it can make our day challenging.”
