Gather your family, friends or co-workers and design a unique animal themed scarecrow for the Minnesota Zoo’s 5th Annual Scarecrow Alley to be on public display at the Wells Fargo Family Farm at the Zoo September 28 - October 31, 2013.
Rules (please carefully review all rules before submitting your entry form):
All scarecrows must be imaginative, family-friendly and have an animal theme. Advertising of a product or any commercialism will not be allowed.
Scarecrow displays are limited to a singular scarecrow. Multiple scarecrows or additional props (not attached to the scarecrow) will not be allowed.
No glass, sharp objects or appliances may be used to complete your scarecrow.
Minnesota Zoo will provide vertical post and horizontal arm support. Contestants must provide string or wire to attach their scarecrows to the posts.
Scarecrows will be on display outside and should be built to withstand unpredictable weather conditions such as wind, rain and snow. Minnesota Zoo reserves the right to remove any scarecrow that does not hold up to natural elements.
Only one entry allowed per person/group.
Scarecrow Size: Scarecrow minimum height is 4 feet and maximum height is 8 feet.
Scarecrows set up date is Saturday, September 28, between 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Directions and drop off locations will be provided once entries are submitted)
Judging: Scarecrows will be judged by an independent judging panel Saturday, September 28, after 12:30 p.m. The top three scarecrows will be awarded prizes. First place will receive $500 Target gift card; second place will receive $300 Target gift card and third place will receive $100 Target gift card. All valid entries will receive four Minnesota Zoo passes. All judges’ decisions are final.
Employees, volunteers and/or their families of the Minnesota Zoo and Minnesota Zoo Foundation, media outlets and corporate sponsors are ineligible to participate in the contest, but may provide a scarecrow as part of our non-judged celebrity section.
