Grade: 1-2

What You'll Need:
Printable pdf with instructions and template
Copy on White Cardstock
Sponge
Googley Eyes
Glue (white or gel)
Scissors
Markers or Crayons
Scent (perfume or extract)
Hole Punch (optional)
Yarn (optional)

Instructions:
This craft is described in Bats, Butterflies and Bugs, by S. Adams Sullivan. Stink Bugs are the skunks of the insect world. When they are threatened, they will squirt a stinky juice that doesn't wash off. Follow the steps below to make your very own Stink Bug!

Steps:
1. Copy Stink Bug on white cardstock.
2. Color and cut out Stink Bug. Glue on googley eyes and allow to dry.
3. Cut a small square (approx. 1' x 1') from the sponge. Glue the square to the back of your Stink Bug and allow to dry.
4. Add the scented extract or perfume of your choice to the sponge. You may want to use a stinky scent, like a real Stink Bug, or choose a scent you like to smell—it's up to you.
5. If you wish, punch a hole in your Stink Bug, tie on a piece of yarn, and wear like a necklace, so you can smell your Stink Bug whenever you want!
