The crested wood partridge is listed as low risk-near threatened
by the 2000 IUCN Redlist and is protected from trade by Appendix
III of CITES. They are native to the tropical rain forests of
Burma and Thailand, south to Malaysia, Borneo and Sumatra. One
of their greatest threats is forest clearing for logging and agriculture.
