Ring-tailed Lemur

SSP Species / Endangered Species

Found only in the southern part of Madagascar, the ring-tailed lemur, with its distinctive black and white tail, inhabits the resource-rich gallery forests along major rivers and adjacent dry scrub forests. Mornings start with sunbathing to warm up, before venturing off to forage for fruit, leaves, flowers and occasionally invertebrates. Ring-tailed lemurs are more terrestrial than any other species, foraging for food and patrolling their territory on the ground during the day. At night the members of the troop rest huddled together in the trees.
