Endangered Species
Description: The Pudu is the smallest of the deer species. It is characterized by a low-slung body, and thick, short legs with slender hooves. Pudu have spikelike antlers less than 4 inches long that they shed annually and tusks do not occur in the upper jaw. An external tail is practically lacking. The name pudu comes from the Mapuche, native people of southern Chile.
