Species
The Standing’s day gecko is one of the largest gecko species
reaching lengths of 12 inches. Unlike masters of camouflage such
as leaf-tailed geckos or twig-mimic snakes, these diurnal (day-active)
lizards stand out with eye-catching flashes of color.
Known as the “jewels of Madagascar,” day geckos occupy
habitats ranging from the coastal lowland rainforests to the spiny
thorn forests in the south.
