Description: Head and body length: 23 cm (9"). Wingspread:
120 cm (4'). Weight: 600-1,000 g (1.25-2.25 lbs). The flying foxes
are the world's largest bats. However, the Indian flying fox is
not the biggest. The wings are black, and most of the body is
brown. The back of the neck and shoulders are light yellow on
the males, but are brown on the females. The thumb is a well-developed
claw.
