Endangered Species

Description: Head and body length about 2.9 M (9.5 ft), tail 48 cm (19 in), height about 2 m (6.5 ft), weight 453-680 kg (1000-1500 lbs). Body is covered with long shaggy hair which it sheds in warm weather. Shorter legs than dromedaries. Have long neck and head. Ears are small, nostrils closeable, cleft upper lip. Color is dark brown. Pads protect the chest, elbows and knees when animal is in resting position. Two humps on back are fleshy tissue, providing a storage space for fat. They are large and full when the animal is healthy.
